Cookies
This page explains how cookies are used on the Redemption Application website.
What are cookies?
Small files (known as "cookies") are put onto your device to collect information about how you browse the site. Cookies help the site function correctly, remember your preferences and save inprogress work so you can resume an application.
Cookies are used to:
- Measure how you use the website so it can be updated and improved based on your needs
- Remember the notifications you've seen so that you're not shown them again
- Preserve your inprogress application state so you can resume the RIF application if you return within the retention period
You'll normally see a message on the site before a cookie is stored on your device.
How our site uses session cookies to drive functionality
The functionality of this service - Help To Buy Digital Forms is driven by cookies that store your insession application data. When you start an application, the site stores the application state and minimal personal data in a session record linked to a session cookie. This allows you to move between pages, preserve form inputs and resume the application if you return within the retention period.
Session data and retention
Session data (the application state stored for resume) is retained for 7 days from your last login or activity on the site.
If you return to the site within 7 days, your saved application data will be used to resume and progress the saved application. If you return after 7 days, the session data will have been deleted and your inprogress application data will be lost; you will need to start a new application.
The session cookie itself may be sessionbased (deleted on browser close) or persistent to enable resume, depending on your device and browser settings; the associated serverside session record that drives resume functionality is retained for 7 days.
Strictly Necessary Cookies Always Enabled
These cookies are essential for the site to function and cannot be switched off.

Other types of cookies we use
Functionality Cookies - Enable enhanced features and personalisation such as remembering language or region preferences. They store preferences in your browser and do not store personal data beyond those preferences.
Performance and Analytics Cookies - Collect aggregated, anonymous information about site performance and usage to help us improve the site.
Cookies and the research optin
If you opt in to be contacted for feedback, the optin flag and consent metadata will be stored in our backend and linked to your account record. We may also use session cookies to preserve your selection while you complete the submission. This processing is only with your explicit consent, and the optin flag will be removed if you withdraw consent.
Security and access to cookiebacked data
Cookies used for authentication, session state and consent are transmitted over secure HTTPS connections. Access to backend records linked to cookies is restricted by rolebased access controls, logging and monitoring in line with our security policies. The session data path is included in penetration tests and security reviews.
How to control cookies
You can accept or reject cookies by changing your browser settings. Rejecting nonessential cookies may affect how parts of the site work. Because session cookies are essential for the web application experience (including the ability to resume within 7 days), disabling them will prevent savedsession resumption and may impede using multipage forms.
To clear saved session data immediately, close your browser and ensure cookies are cleared, or sign out of the portal.
To withdraw consent for the research optin, email customerservices@myhelptobuyloan.co.uk or alternatively if you have not yet submitted your application online you can deselect the opt in checkbox and your opt in preference will not be communicated to help to buy.
